RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY

BRS accepts contract research, provides consultancy and testing services and develops training programs. It has a cooperative linkage with the Construction Materials and Structures Laboratory (CoMSLab) of the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE). If the work entails testing or laboratory works, the facilities of CoMSLab are available for use.

UP BRS shall be a renowned institution for research and technical advice, a think tank, on matters relating to building, housing, and other structures. Over the next five years we will focus on four thematic areas as follows:

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT

BRS has a cooperative linkage with the CoMSLab of the ICE. Our testing facilities have been moved to the ICE located at Pardo de Tavera St., ICE Building, UP Diliman Campus, Quezon City. CoMSLab has testing facilities for cement, concrete, soils, aggregates, masonry and other related materials. Field equipment for testing geotechnical properties, such as cone penetrometer, is also available.

LINKAGE AND INVOLVEMENT WITH THE GOVERNMENT

BRS has been involved with various government technical committees such as the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Bureau of Product Standards of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP). BRS is listed as an alternative testing facility by the Accreditation of Innovative Technologies for Housing and Urban Development (AITECH) of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
