Detailed Engineering Investigation and Evaluation for the Proposed Sandiganbayan Building II in Quezon City and the Courthouse, Cottages, and Proposed Training Center in Baguio City

In 2024, UP BRS, in coordination with the Sandiganbayan, conducted detailed geotechnical investigations and environmental impact assessments for properties located in Quezon City and Baguio City. Detailed structural evaluation of the existing courthouse and cottages, and geohazards assessment for the proposed training center in the Baguio City property were also conducted.

The project involved ocular site inspections and comprehensive evaluation and interpretation of the subsurface condition of the Quezon City and Baguio City properties based on the results of the field and laboratory tests. Initial Environment Examinations (IEE) were also conducted to evaluate the potential impacts of the proposed construction projects to the environment, as well as develop suitable measures for the prevention and mitigation of the identified effects.

Furthermore, concrete core extraction, rebar scanning and rebar extraction for the existing courthouse and cottages in the Baguio City property were performed to assess their structural integrity. Geohazard assessment using ground penetrating radar was also conducted in the Baguio City property.
