Building Research Service (UP BRS), in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology – Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO), now the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), conducted the structural integrity assessment of the building established as the national government data center 3 (NGDC3) at Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). The structural assessment stage of the project initiated in 2014 with the retrofit design finishing in 2016.
The project involved the detailed structural integrity assessment of the old existing building 8172 at SBFZ. In-situ destructive and non-destructive tests, including in-depth geotechnical investigation, were preliminary conducted to determine the existing field conditions and parameters. Analytical models of the existing building were developed to assess the overall capacity of the existing structure, which were then modified to idealize the retrofit designs to accommodate the new occupancy and requirements of the NGDC3.
Furthermore, UP BRS was involved in conducting necessary construction oversight of the project during its construction phase. The conducted construction supervisory work for the project spanned up to the finishing works of the architectural phase in 2020.
